Sorry I’m late with this (I’ll get back to normal posting one of these days)…
As many of you may have heard, our friend Melanie Shouse lost her battle with breast cancer recently after missing out on critical treatments because she could not find affordable health insurance.
She was a stalwart fighter for health care reform – and not just for herself – because she believed that everyone in America should have good health care they can afford. We will miss her, and we will fight on for her.
That’s why we need you to stand up to corporate lobbyists and Republican fear-mongering on February 17th. We need to finish health reform and finish it right. Enough is enough. No more health care deaths. Congress must deliver the change we voted for!
We’re having events all over the country, with more being added every day. And we have ways for you to volunteer from home to help spread the word.
Melanie asked us if we could, instead of a funeral, hold a rally in her honor. And so we’re holding rallies all around the country. You can go to one near you, or volunteer to call other health care supporters and spread the word about the events.
We need you to raise your voice now to tell Congress that we are not going to wait any longer. We voted for change, and now it’s their job to make it happen. Members of Congress have had plenty of time to discuss and debate. Now it’s time to get it done.
We need to do it for Melanie and the thousands like her – friends, sisters, sons – who die every year because our health care system is broken.
Join us on February 17th to make sure Congress hears us.
Thanks for all that you do. Together, we will finish reform right.
To your health,
Health Care for America Now
P.S. To find out more about Melanie Shouse’s courageous fight, you can become a fan of her Facebook page, “No More Health Care Deaths. In honor of Melanie Shouse.”
It sure would be nice to see our side get some headlines for a change on this instead of those tea party numbskulls, wouldn’t it?
