A Zell Of A Newspaper Fix

Yep, Sam Zell sure is a captain of industry, isn’t he; through a leveraged buyout, he acquires The Tribune Company, including the Chicago Tribune, and also the Los Angeles Times newspaper as well (and he also owns the long-suffering Chicago Cubs).

Well, as noted here (h/t Atrios), the Tribune sought bankruptcy protection today (perhaps inspiring this cartoon – h/t E&P – showing Clark Kent getting the “ax” at The Daily Planet).

And in other news, an Asian-based multinational completed a hostile takeover of Wayne Industries, acquiring the Bat Cave through liquidation proceedings. Also, accelerated weather patterns caused a half-a-degree rise in the temperature of the Pacific Ocean, which is suspected in the “beaching” deaths of both Aquaman and his deadly foe, Black Manta.
